I started snowboarding later in life at 30 years old. This was because my boyfriend, now husband was an avid snowboarder, skier, as well as president of the largest local ski club. I became very involved with the sport thanks to my husbands passion, and in 2016 when he left the largest Long Island ski club to start his own ski club, I became vice president and Metropolitan NY council representative for Beer Run Ski Club. I have assisted in running group trips through our ski club, and have attended many ski shows/expos/fam trips around the country. My husband lost vision 6 years ago, and we had to adapt to a new way of snowboarding (not the least of which was my taking the lead instead of him). I now serve as a guide for him so he can continue to snowboard and so we can continue to enjoy the mountains together. We use a communication device to make this possible , and manage to get in a minimum of 30 days a season skiing in the east and out west, occasionally Europe.
