Hall of Famer Dan Egan with rising freeride skier Johnny Egan. Dan Egan retraces his groundbreaking 1991 expedition across Turkey’s Silk Road, this time alongside the next generation, blending past and present in a cinematic journey of skiing, culture, and resilience.
Return to the Silk Road follows Dan Egan and his nephew Johnny Egan, back to Turkey, 34 years after Dan starred in Warren Miller’s Steeper and Deeper (1992). The short film blends rare archival footage with stunning new cinematography, exploring the surreal landscapes of Cappadocia and Erciyes while reflecting on Warren Miller’s legacy, cultural exchange, and the bonds that connect generations of skiers. Return to the Silk Road is both a rediscovery of an untold story and an inspiring testament to resilience, mentorship, and the universal spirit of adventure.
