Brian Paupaw is the Executive Director and Co-founder of Hoods to Woods Foundation. Brian discovered snowboarding in 1998 while attending Parsons School of Design, his classmates were snowboarders and introduced him to the sport. His passion for snowboarding and a trip to Mt Baker, Washington in 2001 was the inspiration to find a way to share the outdoors with his community, and in 2008 Paupaw met Hoods to Woods Co-founder Omar Diaz at a film screening for a short film about Paupaw’s journey to Mt Baker titled “Hoods to Woods”. After meeting at the screening they started carpooling four teenagers from Bedford-Stuyvesant Brooklyn to Mountain creek, New Jersey and now present day Hoods to Woods has introduced over 100+ students to snowboarding and now operate annually with a indoor snowboarding program at Big Snow American Dream, NJ.
