Jason Cordeira is a weekend warrior hitting the trails of New Hampshire’s White Mountains as a runner, skier, and mountain biker. Yeah, he’s run a few marathons, finished middle of the pack in a bike race once, and takes pride in his local Strava course records, but what is he really good at?
He has a PhD in meteorology with 15 years of experience in software development, weather forecasting, research, and teaching. He currently serves as the atmospheric science and applications manager for the Center for Western Weather and Water Extremes out of the University of California, San Diego where he’s tackling problems related to heavy rain, heavy snow, and flooding.
This winter he’ll reprise his role leading the New England Daily Snow for OpenSnow, a snow forecasting and ski conditions information service that provides everything you need for your next powder day, weekend trip, or destination ski vacation. If you have any questions about how much snow is going to fall in the next Nor’easter or where to find the best powder, he’s your guy.
