Jay Rawe

My name is Jay Rawe. I grew up in Bradenton, Florida. As a I kid I was into lots of sports; gymnastics, wrestling, skating, wakeboarding, and skateboarding, to name a few. I also got to ski and snowboard occasionally, when my family would take us on ski trips out west. I didn’t have a ton of experience on the snow until I started sitskiing. A few years after having a BASE jumping accident, which resulted in a Spinal Cord Injury, I had my first lesson. I enjoyed it so much that at 27 years old, I decided to move out to Tahoe from Florida to pursue the sport. I quickly fell in love with sitskiing, and have been on an increasingly amazing journey since.

Jay discovered sitskiing through adaptive sports programs and quickly became one of the sport’s most fearless figures. He taught himself advanced freestyle techniques, mastering airs, 180s, alley-oops, and even backflips; feats rarely seen in adaptive skiing.
