I am a 32 year -old visually impaired woman as a result of a brain injury who also has Cerebral Palsy. Six years ago I took up snowboarding with the goal of educating people about not letting your disability define you or prevent you from pursuing your dreams. By rejecting the idea that someone who is visually impaired and has Cerebral Palsy cannot live a full life, I have been able to exceed even my own expectations. To be able to stand out as an accomplished snowboarder I have been able to redefine how people with disabilities are viewed. I plan to continue to stand out.
