I first skied as a teen when living in the Netherlands and a friend invited me along to a ski trip in Austria, but never skied more than a handful of times after that. Fast forward a few decades and I found myself living in Canada with long snowy winters, and a small hill just 20 minutes away. I couldn’t make the snow go away, so I figured I might as well have fun playing in it. Now my home hill is Wachusett and when my neighbors get all gloomy about snow in the forecast I have a hard time trying not to thank Ullr in front of them. When not skiing at Wachusett or Ikon resorts, I am procrastinating by reading and posting on ski forums like Ski Talk and The Ski Diva, and come fall by counting the days until the Snowbound Expo, since I know that means ski season is almost here again.
