I’m a New Yorker who learned to ski in the NY Adirondacks before moving to North Carolina long ago when I was in high school. I became an advanced skier comfortable off-piste in a variety of conditions after age 55 with the help of PSIA Level 3 instructors at Massanutten, Alta, Taos and other resorts.
I take advantage of being retired to enjoy ski trips to multiple regions, meeting up with friends from online ski forums such as SkiSoutheast, TheSkiDiva, NYSkiBlog, or DCSki.
My favorite resorts out west are Alta, Big Sky, Taos, with Grand Targhee and Bridger Bowl also high on my list of favorite big mountains. My home resort is Massanutten in northern Virginia. Always hoping to get lucky and catch a powder storm, but have fun in any terrain from groomers to bumps and trees.
