It’s wonderful that Boston has an annual ski show again. Looking forward to the expanded version to get ready for the 2023-24 season!
I’m a New Yorker who learned to ski in the NY Adirondacks before moving to North Carolina long ago when I was in high school. During the last decade I’ve taken advantage of being retired to enjoy ski trips to more than one region with friends. Often people come from multiple states. Being active on online ski forums such as DCSki, NYSkiBlog, and TheSkiDiva makes it easier to find ski buddies with similar interests given that I don’t live near big mountain skiing.
My favorite resorts out west are Alta, Big Sky, and Taos, with Grand Targhee and Bridger Bowl also high on my list of favorite big mountains. My home resort is Massanutten in northern Virginia, which is a founding partner for the Indy Pass. I’ve had fun using the Indy Pass in the southeast and northeast. Hoping to check out a few places in the midwest this season. For destination resorts, I use Ikon and the Mountain Collective Pass. I became an advanced skier comfortable off-piste in a variety of conditions after age 55 with the help of PSIA Level 3 instructors. Always hoping to get lucky and catch a powder storm, but have fun in any terrain from groomers to bumps and trees.
